Eurostat regional yearbook 2011

Statistical information is an important tool for understanding and quantifying the impact of political decisions on the citizens in a specific territory or region. The Eurostat regional yearbook 2011 gives a detailed picture of a large number of statistical fields in the 27 Member States of the European Union, as well as in EFTA and candidate countries. The text of each chapter has been written by specialists in statistics and is accompanied by maps, figures and tables. A broad set of regional indicators are presented for the following 16 subjects: population, labour market, labour cost, education, health, European cities, gross domestic product, household accounts, structural business statistics, information society, tourism, land cover and land use, coastal regions, transport, science, technology and innovation, and last but not least, a study on trends in densely and thinly populated areas (fonte: Eurostat). Eurostat: Convergence and disparities in regional Gross (PIB regional)

Regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in purchasing power standards (PPS) per capita has been catching up significantly in many of the less prosperous regions of the EU since the year 2000. Early data from some Member States suggest that rural areas were less affected by the economic downturn in 2008 and 2009 than high-income regions and areas with a high dependence on exports, financial services or tourism. However, regional disparities are increasing inside new Member states.

From A for Abruzzo to Z for Zuid-Holland
Which EU region has the highest population density and which has the lowest? In which EU region do households use the internet the most? Which region has the highest proportion of the population who have completed tertiary education? The answers to these questions and many more are found in the 2009 regional yearbook1 from Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. The publication gives an overview of the most recent economic, social and demographic developments in the 271 regions2 of the 27 Member States of the European Union as well as, when available, regions in the three candidate countries (Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey) and the four EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). The Eurostat regional yearbook 2009 includes for the first time a chapter on the information society, and also contains chapters on population, cities, labour market, gross domestic product, household accounts, structural business statistics, science, technology & innovation, education, tourism and agriculture. To illustrate the diversity of data found in the Eurostat regional yearbook, this News Release presents three indicators from different statistical fields.

Eurostat lançou "Yearbook 2009" que inclui as regiões

O Eurostat acaba de lançar mais uma edição do "Europe in figures - Eurostat yearbook 2009" o qual, conforme o organismo emissor, "presents a comprehensive selection of statistical data on Europe. The yearbook may be viewed as an introduction to European statistics. Most data cover the period 1997–2007 for the European Union and some indicators are provided for other countries such as candidate countries to the European Union, members of EFTA, Japan or the United States (subject to availability). With just over 500 statistical tables, graphs and maps, the yearbook treats the following areas: the economy, population, education, health, living conditions and welfare, the labour market, industry and services, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, international trade, transport, the environment, energy, science and technology and Europe’s regions. This edition’s spotlight chapter covers creativity and innovation – the theme of the European year 2009. Europe in figures is divided into an introduction, 16 main chapters and a set of annexes. The main chapters contain data and/or background information relating to particular topics, starting with a spotlight chapter on creativity and innovation. Each subchapter starts with an introduction containing background information and policy relevance, followed by some details regarding definitions and data availability and then a commentary on the main findings. The main focus of each subchapter is a set of tables and graphs that have been selected to show the wide variety of data available for that particular topic; often these include information on how important benchmark indicators have developed during recent years within the EU, its Member States and the euro area. Users will find a great deal more information when consulting the Eurostat website, which contains subject-specific publications and online databases. The annexes at the end of the publication contain details of classifications, a list of statistical symbols, abbreviations and acronyms, and a subject index". No caso das Regiões aos interessados deixo dois linkes que podem usar para consultar ou, através deles, fazer download:

Eurostat: "Regions of the European Union - A statistical portrait (2009 edition)"

Aqui.

Eurostat: Maritime transport of goods and passengers 1997-2007

Uma publicação do Eurostat: "In 2007, the total weight of goods handled in EU-27 maritime ports is estimated at 3.9 billion tonnes (2.6% up compared with 2006 for EU-27 excluding Italy). Of these, nearly two thirds were goods unloaded. Almost all Member States unloaded more than they loaded. At 582 million tonnes, the United Kingdom had the highest share (15%) of goods handled in EU-27 ports, followed by Italy (14% in 2006), the Netherlands (13%) and Spain (11%). In most countries in 2007, liquid bulk goods (which include petroleum products) was the largest type of cargo handled in tonnage terms. At EU-27 level excluding Italy, liquid bulk represents 38% of the total cargo handled in ports, followed by dry bulk (26%) and containers (18%). In 2007, more than 60% of EU-27 seaborne goods transport concerned an extra-EU-27 partner port. The international intra-EU-27 transport represented less than 30% and national transport about 10%. The number of passengers who passed through EU-27 ports in 2007 is estimated at 410 million (2.0% up compared with 2006 for EU-27 excluding Italy). The number of vessel calls at EU-27 main ports (excluding Italian ports) showed an increase of 4.3% compared to 2006. However, in terms of gross tonnage of the vessels, the growth rate was 6.8%. This reflects the increasing size of vessels operating in EU-27 ports". Aqui.
