"Home": o ambiente

"Home" has a very clear message. We have a greater impact on the Earth than it can bear. We over-consume and are depleting the Earth's resources. From the air, it's easy to see the Earth's wounds. So, HOME simply sets out our current situation, while saying that a solution exists.The film's subtitle could be It's Too Late To Be A Pessimist. We have reached a crossroads; important decisions must be taken to change our world. Everybody knows about what the film says, but nobody wants to believe it. So HOME adds its weight to the argument of environmental organizations that we need to revert to a more commonsensical approach and change our consumer way of life.On June 5th we all have a date with the planet!

"Home" Making-Of: The Arctic

The most visible sign of the environmental damage caused by humans, the melting of the ice on the oceans and on land is a local and global problem. Arctic ecosystems, whose best known species is the polar bear, are under threat. Native peoples, particularly the Inuits, also see their living conditions worsen as the ice melts. The ice is a witness to the Earth's climatic evolutions and its disappearance will have consequences far beyond the polar regions. As the ice-cap melts, sea-levels will rise drastically altering coastlines all round the world.

"Home" Making-Of: New-York

New York is the epitome of a cosmopolitan city. One of the world's biggest, it saw immigrants arrive from all over the world, chasing freedom, their fortune and the American dream. New York continues to attract and fascinate. The city created a new model of urban planning with towers and blocks of buildings, constant traffic, stores and adverts. All these innovations that made the city attractive also contributed to the increase in its inhabitants' consumption of energy and material goods.

Lembrando a exploração e a falta de escrúpulos em Africa

Hoje tive oportunidade de rever o filme "O jardineiro Fiel", uma excelente denúncia da exploração feita em África por capitalistas sem escrúpulos, incluindo empresas farmacêuticas acusadas há anos de usarem doenças e outras enfermidades desconhecidas que assolam o continente africano, para transformarem os africanos em cobaias de experiências que depois geram negócios milionários. E para que isso aconteça tudo fazem para "varrerem" potenciais obstáculos. Vale a pena rever:
