Europa: expectativa de vida
The life expectancy of citizens within the European Union has risen throughout recent decades, and the gap between men and women has narrowed, perhaps reflecting changes in work and lifestyle patterns. The statistics presented for life expectancy refer to the mean number of years that a newborn child can expect to live if subjected throughout his/her life to the current mortality conditions. A similar indicator for life expectancy at 65 reflects the mean number of years still to be lived by a person who has reached the age 65, if subjected throughout the rest of his or her life to the current mortality conditions (fonte: Eurostat)
